Highlights Sunday: Jimmy Casas
Jimmy Casas is in his 22nd year of administrative leadership. He received his BA in Spanish and Master’s in Teaching from the University of Iowa and his Master’s in Administrative Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. Jimmy is currently working on his ED.S and serves as an adjunct professor for Drake University, teaching a graduate course on Educational Leadership. Jimmy has served as principal at Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa for the last 14 years. Jimmy’s core purpose lies in serving others. He was named the 2012 Iowa Secondary Principal of the Year and was selected as one of three finalists for NASSP 2013 National Secondary Principal of the Year. In 2014, Jimmy was invited to the White House to speak on the Future Ready Schools pledge. In 2015, he was named the Bammy National Principal of the Year. Jimmy is the Co-Founder of EdCampIowa and also the Co-Founder of #IAedchat, a popular on-line chat that takes place every Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. CST. Finally, Jimmy is the co-author of a book with Todd Whitaker and Jeff Zoul entitled, “What Connected Educators Do Differently.”

Monday: Christopher Kai
Christopher Kai is an entrepreneur, international speaker, bestselling author, former high school teacher and homeless youth pioneer. He has given over 1,000 presentations to audiences from 30 countries which include: Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, associations, global conferences, and schools across the country. He is the author of “Your Wonder Years: Success in College and Beyond” and “The Incredible Stories of Skid Row: From Homeless to Hopeful in the City of Angels.” Christopher also founded Mondays at the Mission, the only homeless youth program of its kind at the largest private shelter in the U.S. They have had over 240 speakers from 26 states and 28 countries and its program participants have been featured on Time, ABC, CNN, People magazine, Ellen, and Oprah.

Tuesday: EdCamp Join us for EdCamp hosted by Jimmy Casas, Co-Founder of EdCampIowa.

What is Edcamp? Edcamp is a form of unconference designed specifically for teachers and their needs. What makes EdCamp an unconference? Unlike traditional conferences which have schedules set months in advance by the people running the conference, EdCamp has an agenda that’s created by the participants at the start of the event.
